SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under supervision performs a variety of duties in support of warehousing services and activities including the receipt, storage, tagging, distribution, and issuance of supplies, materials and equipment.
CHARACTERISTICS
Storekeeper - Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Once the employee has gained experience, they will be expected to perform their work duties without constant supervision. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
1. Receive incoming items; check that items have been sent pre-paid; inspect for damage and verify purchase order number and quantity of items received against purchase order and packing slip; confirm accuracy of order; generate discrepancy form when necessary; identify, mark, tag, record, and store items in proper location using carts, pallets or hand trucks.
2. Assist with inventory control and the ordering of shipping supplies.
3. Enter data into the computerized record keeping system on all stock transactions.
4. Contact appropriate carriers to arrange for pick-up of shipment.
5. Maintain work area in a secure, neat, and orderly manner. This includes sweeping floors and the removal of workplace trash.
6. Reorganize stock items.
7. Perform related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Knowledge of:
Warehouse practices and procedures.
Cell phone operation and technical workings.
Common carrier and shipping procedures and documentation.
Principles and procedures of record keeping and filing.
Inventory procedures and forms.
Basic principles and practices of inventory control.
Mathematical principles.
Parts, supplies, and materials commonly stocked in a warehouse.
Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers.
Methods, techniques, materials, equipment, and tools used in material handling and delivery.
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
Knowledge of Shipworks, Dazzle, and Endicia software a plus.
Ability to:
Perform duties in support of a centralized warehouse function.
Maintain accurate and current records of transactions.
Organize, stock, and issue supplies and equipment.
Maintain adequate stock levels.
Respond to requests and inquiries from other personnel.
Follow written and verbal instructions and maintain simple records.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Work independently.
Education and Experience
Storekeeper
Education/Training:
Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade.
Experience:
One year of general storekeeping or warehousing experience.
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Environment: Indoor environment work and/or walk on concrete floor surface.
Physical: Lift and/or carry moderate to heavy amounts of weight; bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl; climb stairs and ladders; operate assigned equipment.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
WORK SCHEDULE
Employees will work a Monday through Friday work schedule. The following times are negotiable.
6:00AM to 3:00PM
7:00AM to 4:00PM
8:00AM to 5:00PM
Employees will be expected to work 40hrs a week.
COMPENSATION
The Storekeeper position will start out at $10.00/hr for the first 90 day.
After the first 90 days the hourly rate will be negotiable.
Benefits available after 90 days.
