Job Title: Psychological Health Outreach Support Team Member
Location: Southwest, San Diego, CA (Position # 0508944)

Summary of Job Duties: Supports the Navy Operational Support Commands (NOSCs) within designated region as part of the Navy Reserve Psychological Health Outreach Program. The goals for this program are: 1) to create a Psychological Health (PH) “safety net” for Navy Reservists and their families, who are at risk for not having their stress injuries identified and treated in an expeditious manner; 2) to improve the overall PH of Navy Reservists and their families; and 3) to identify long-term strategies to improve PH support services for Reservists and their families.

• Coordinate all activities with the regional PH Outreach Coordinators.
• Provide an outreach visit to each major NOSC, as determined by RCC Commanding Officer, by at least one Team member not less than once per year of contract performance. At each major NOSC, provide psychological health outreach and educational/training services to Medical Department Representatives (MDRs). Assess unit members to detect possible stress injuries using appropriate psychological health screening tools, and assist members identified as needing referrals to get the necessary follow on care.
• Provide outreach services to larger reserve populations identified as being at risk for psychological health issues, for example a reserve Construction Battalion returning from deployment. Assess unit members to detect possible stress injuries using appropriate psychological health screening tools, and assist members identified as needing referrals to get the necessary follow on care.
• Serve as facilitator and provide counseling support for the Returning Warrior Workshop program in conjunction with NRRCC Family Readiness Coordinators and Chaplain Corps. The Workshop programs are already developed and are held throughout the country. Team members shall travel to the scheduled locations and facilitate the program.
• Provide psychological support and assessment of Reservists and their family members who experience psychological trauma as a result of a natural disaster (such as Hurricane Katrina) or terrorist attack or other full scale emergency.

Required Experience:
• Must be a licensed, certified, or registered social worker OR an Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
• Possess at minimum a Master’s degree in social work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education OR a Master’s degree in nursing.
• Prior military experience is preferred.

Required Skills:
• Group coordination and organization skills.
• Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of the field.
• Understanding of the military culture and stressors associated with wartime deployment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• A wide degree of creativity is expected.
• Ability to successfully pass a Criminal History Background Check.
